Our new garage – site workshop!
Well, we have spent a few months working hard and have finished the site workshop. Building it completely ourselves (apart from the slates on the roof of course!) has been very rewarding. We have even fitted insulation in the walls and lined and painted it internally! A very posh site workshop. At least it now means we don’t have any cladding to paint – now that’s a step forward!
The garage hasn’t been the only work as the airtight / vapour proof membrane has been fitted to most of the inside of the house and sealed with the expensive tapes we bought off German eBay! It wasn’t a moment too soon as this year has been particularly bad for us with cluster flies. There must be tens of thousands of them in the main loft space – the noise some days has been incredible. The airtight membrane on the ceiling has kept them out of the main part of the house and we have started to use smoke bombs to kill off the hibernating flies and try and put them off in the future! It’ll be a task that has to be repeated over the next few years.
We also now have a deadline – we have to move in by the end of May next year. Our current house is needed by family so the pressure is on – although to be fair after two years constant building it is good to have an end date!
